Featured Client Project:

Our featured client project that we began at the end of 2006, was updating German American Chamber of Commerce's network. This is a huge project both in terms of equipment and commitment. During this project we will be installing Microsoft Exchange 2007, integrating a new email archive system (Sherpa), and updating RAM on most workstations.

Status: This project is really challenging the patience of both the client and Solus. We are firm believers in testing the environment before implementation. We are facing a delay with the Sherpa system as we wait for the system to be certified to work with MS Exchange 2007. That however isn't the only problem we have run into, the Symantec Antivirus is having a problem with the 64-bit environment of MS Exchange 2007. We are diligently working with Dell and Symantec to get this resolved.

As always with all new releases, everyone experiences learning curves. While this is proving to be frustrating and annoying, we must remember that each step we break allows for progress and ease of passage the next time through.

Project Equipment/Software:
    (2) Dell PowerEdge 2900 Servers with Raid 5, 2 GB RAM and (4) 146 GB hard drives
    (1) PowerVault 110T - Tape backup drive (LTo-2 200 GB/400GB)
Windows Server Standard 2003 R2 32-bit x64, MS Exchange 2007, Backup Exec, Backup Exec Agent, Symantec Antivirus, Sherpa email archiving

10-Years:

Solus is counting down our 10th Anniversary.

This is quite a milestone. When Niall and Stuart first dreamed of moving out of the corporate world and into their own business, there was no telling whether they would get past the first couple years. As with all small businesses, the fear of the next paycheck, the rent, the "oh what have we done" terror was there, but they persevered and grew. We understand the small business, pioneering spirit. We also understand accountability and responsibility; this is probably why Solus has been successful. So Solus, here's to the next 10 years!! CHEERS!

Did You Know

In a survey of over 100 Fortune 500 companies it was learned that most successful companies put a high value on their IT systems.

It is predicited in 2008 that 98% of companies with over 10 employees will have IT departments.

Marius Du Plessis, one satisfied client says Solus’s solution was cost-effective. "If you purchase top of the range to middle range equipment, your network lasts longer and staff don't have to regularly call IT support," he says.
